Domestic Violence Tampa Florida - Causes

I voluntarily attended Tampa Domestic Violence Classes, and got a lot out of them. You learn in the Domestic Violence Classes that what leads to abuse is lack of Control. We were taught in the Tampa Domestic Violence classes to stand up, and draw a circle around our feet. Anything INSIDE the Circle, we can control (ourselves), and we are powerless over things OUTSIDE the Circle. A good lesson all of us need to remember for daily life (though few of us practice this perfectly). The Tampa Domestic Violence Counselor also taught us to repeat "I am powerless over people, places, and things" when we find ourselves in situations that are getting us upset. Usually, what makes us angry, is we are attempting to control some person, place, or thing. Control of others is doomed to failure. All we can really control is ourselves. Doing a search for causes of domestic violence, I found this article.

What Causes Domestic Violence?

By Toby D. Goldsmith, MD

Domestic violence in Tampa may start when one partner feels the need to control and dominate the other. Abusers may feel this need to control their partner because of low self-esteem, extreme jealousy, difficulties in regulating anger and other strong emotions, or when they feel inferior to the other partner in education and socioeconomic background. Some men with very traditional beliefs may think they have the right to control women, and that women aren’t equal to men.
This domination then takes the form of emotional, physical or sexual abuse. Studies suggest that violent behavior often is caused by an interaction of situational and individual factors. That means that abusers learn violent behavior from their family, people in their community and other cultural influences as they grow up. They may have seen domestic violence often or they may have been victims themselves.
Children in Tampa who witness or are the victims of domestic violence may learn to believe that violence is a reasonable way to resolve conflict between people. Boys who learn that women are not to be valued or respected and who see domestic violence directed against women are more likely to abuse women when they grow up. Girls in Tampa who witness domestic violence in their families of origin are more likely to be victimized by their own husbands.
Alcohol and other chemical substances may contribute to violent behavior. A drunk or high person will be less likely to control his or her violent impulses.

Hillsborough County Sheriffs Deputy Breaks Leg In Jail

I was in Hillsborough County's Falkenburg  Jail for 89 days fighting my recent Hillsborough County Restraining Order Nightmare. I well remember Jail Deputy Brown! He was one of the most popular, and respected HCSO Deputy's among the Jail Inmates. Hillsborough County Sheriff's Deputy Brown was knowing for being tough, but fair. He was very well liked, and I was sorry to hear this when I read it. I sincerely wish Deputy Brown a speedy recovery.

TAMPA — A Hillsborough County sheriff's deputy suffered a broken leg Friday afternoon while breaking up a fight between inmates at the Falkenburg Road Jail, sheriff's officials said.
Hillsborough County sheriff's deputy Deputy Greg Brown, 35, broke his leg as he struggled with one of the inmates involved in the fight, officials said.
The fight broke out in one of the jail's housing units shortly after noon Friday. According to authorities, two inmates, Rodrick Lee Kelly, 23, and Jordan Ryan Beerman, 21, exchanged insults before fighting each other. Hillsborough County sheriff's deputy Brown, who was supervising the unit's 70 inmates, called for backup and ordered the two to separate.
Brown attempted to subdue Kelly from behind, taking the inmate to the floor, officials said. In the process, Brown's right lower leg was broken. He was able to control Kelly until other deputies arrived.
Brown was taken to University Community Hospital for treatment after being examined by jail medical personnel. Authorities described the injury as serious and said Hillsborough County sheriff's deputy Brown will undergo surgery.
Brown has been with the Sheriff's Office for five years.
"This incident once again illustrates the dangers that our detention deputies face in their daily duties," Col. Jim Previtera, commander of the sheriff's detention services division, said in a media release. "Deputy Brown is in tremendous physical condition and conducted himself in an outstanding manner handling this fight. Yet he faces the real possibility of extensive surgery and a prolonged recovery period for his willingness to accept this job. Our hope is that the early diagnosis will improve in his favor."
Sheriff's detectives are investigating the incident to determine if additional charges will be filed against either of inmate.
Kelly has been in jail since Dec. 17 for failing to appear in court on several charges including aggravated battery on a pregnant female and burglary, according to jail records. Beerman has been in jail since Dec. 4 for a domestic violence-related charge of aggravated battery on a pregnant female.

Restraining Order Questions

Here is a letter we just received from one of our readers with Restraining Order Questions.

On the 6th of Jan my husband who already has a court hearing on the 24th of this month decided to grab me by the coat and hurt my chest 3 times I told him that was it I was going to call 911 I had enough so then he called 911 screaming in the phone while 911 was on the phone STOP HITTING ME OVER AND OVER AGAIN.  In the background you could hear me asking why are you lying to the sheriffs  I hope the judge can listen to those tapes.   So when they came they talked to both of f us separately and I heard him lying to them saying I was slapping him and saying stuff that was untrue.  He had been threatening me that since he was going to jail so was I and now he is succeeding so I was arrested and because I have a heart condition the sheriff's called the ambulance and they rushed me to the hospital and I was hooked up to heart monitors oxygen given nitro the whole nine.   The cops would not even take off my cuffs even though they were right there in the ambulance with me making it very difficult for the EMT's which were getting upset with them.
So I got to the hospital and was given IV fluids which had heart med's, pain pills cause the pain in my heart was so bad and I was one out of it woman.
Then they came up to the bed and said they were giving me a situation and that I could not go 100 feet from my husband that is all I remember and I was asleep in and out for a few hours then I was told I could go home well that was a little difficult since I had my car at my property and I lived 30 miles away so I took a taxi and almost could not even get out of the cab because of the effects of the medicine from the IV.
So when I came in the house I did not see him at first I passed out on my couch and he had left then and I could not even hardly see.

So the next morning he came home and said I was not suppose to be there and I told him what was I suppose to do I could not drive and I was not going to sleep in my car that would have still been on the property so I just left and I went to the court house and talked to the DA's paralegal and filed a paper and started for home which was 70 miles from home but I called the sheriff and I was told on the phone he was there already and he would wait for me.

So I drove on my property which is 9 acres and you could never see any cars unless you did drive up but the sheriff was not there and my husband was getting in his car and I asked him where the sheriff was and he said to call him but I did not I left  and then I called the sheriff again and he said he would meet me there so I waited on the corner till I saw him and he had me follow him to my house where thinking he was going to stand by he arrested me instead taking me to jail.

My question to you is what do you think will happen to me on Tuesday when I go to court do you think the judge will throw me in jail?

I am living in my car, and while I was gone my husband ransacked my bedroom which I have pictures of and he took the 3000 my mom had given me so I could leave there and find a place to live but he stole the money leaving me no money and living in my car.

The 5 day temporary restraining will be up on Tuesday I think or wed and my husband called my mom yesterday saying he was going to get another restraining order till the 24th till we go to court which is for his domestic violence case that he had for beating me up and I have pictures from the officer that took the report after he beat me when I came home from the hospital that day in July of last year.

Thank you and I hope you can give me in your professional opinion what do you think will happen ?
